Common questions
What are moving and changed lines?
An old yang or old yin line is about to turn into its opposite; that is a moving line. Turn every moving line and you get a second hexagram, the changed one. Read the first hexagram, then the moving lines, then the changed hexagram.
Do coins and yarrow give the same odds?
Both give six lines, but the odds differ. With yarrow an old yin comes up 1 time in 16 and an old yang 3 in 16; with coins each comes up 1 time in 8. The site offers both.
What is the difference between the judgment and the line texts?
The judgment speaks of the whole hexagram; each line text speaks of one of its six lines. Qian and Kun each have a seventh text, for when all six lines move.
