With good stars it brings wealth and rank. With bad ones, emptiness.
Zi Wei Dou Shu Quan Shu, vol. 1
In plain words
Tan Lang is the star of desire and the chief peach blossom star. It is read as restless, deep in its plans and hard to pin down. Its best match is with Huo Xing or Ling Xing, the one pairing the book says brings wealth and rank. The book is harsher on this star than almost any other, mostly about drink, gambling and love affairs.
Sources Zi Wei Dou Shu Quan Shu, vols. 1 and 2, from an online transcription, not yet checked against a printed edition. The plain text is ours, and it leaves out the book’s harshest lines about death and about women.
