In plain words
Tai Yin is the moon, partner of the sun. It rules house and land, and it stands for the mother and, for men, the wife. Its strength runs opposite to the sun: it is at its best in the evening and night palaces, and weak in the morning ones.
Sources Zi Wei Dou Shu Quan Shu, vols. 1 and 2, from an online transcription, not yet checked against a printed edition. The plain text is ours, and it leaves out the book’s harshest lines about death and about women.
