In plain words
Ling Xing is the quieter twin of Huo Xing, read as brooding rather than blazing. It too does best with Tan Lang. In strong palaces the verse gives wealth and office, and in weak ones a lonely, poor road.
Sources Zi Wei Dou Shu Quan Shu, vols. 1 and 2, from an online transcription, not yet checked against a printed edition. The plain text is ours, and it leaves out the book’s harshest lines about death and about women.
