戊土固重，既中且正。靜翕動闢，萬物司命。水潤物生，火燥物病。若在艮坤，怕沖宜靜。

What it is
Wu is heavy, firm and central. The verse says that when water moistens it things live, and when fire parches it things sicken.
In a chart
If this is the stem of your day pillar, it is your Day Master, and the rest of the chart is read against it.
Relations
戊 Wu combines with 癸 Gui, turning to Fire. It has no clash among the stems.
